Hi, I’m Dayna!
I offer Play Therapy for Children ages 3 and up.
Play is a child’s natural language.
An adult’s natural language is verbal expression. However, for children to work through problems and express themselves effectively, they need the power of play.
What is Play Therapy?
The APT (Association for Play Therapy) has some wonderful resources for parents on their website. This link will describe what to expect when you begin Play Therapy with your child: What to Expect in a Play Therapy Session – Association for Play Therapy.
Why Play Therapy?
Play Therapy helps children with anxiety, crying outbursts, tantrums, impulsive behavior, aggression, defiance, anger, trauma….
Need I go on?
I love Play Therapy and I love Working with Children!
I have seen so many children transform from uncontrollable behavior to calm and able to control their emotions.
Play Therapy also involves you!
As the parent, you are the expert in your child. This means you will need to be involved in your child’s treatment.
Although I meet individually with your child for the majority of treatment, it will be important for us to meet regularly to work on skills you will need to help your child carry home what they are learning in the playroom.
And changing behavior takes a community.
We will work together to help enforce skills in all areas of your child’s life (home, school, daycare).
