Hi, I’m Dayna!
Licensed Therapist
Founder of Gordonsville Counseling & Play Therapy
I specialize in trauma-informed therapy for children, families, and women, with a strong focus on attachment, nervous system regulation, and breaking generational cycles.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-S, MHSP), Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), Certified EMDR Therapist, EMDRIA Approved Consultant in Training (CIT), and Certified TraumaPlay Therapist and Supervisor. With over 20 years of clinical experience, I specialize in trauma-informed therapy for children, teens, women, and families, with a strong focus on attachment, nervous system regulation, and breaking generational patterns.
My approach is both highly relational and deeply clinical. I am extensively trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and intentionally integrate EMDR with play therapy to help children process overwhelming experiences in ways that feel safe and developmentally appropriate. I also work with teens and adults seeking meaningful, lasting relief from trauma rather than short-term symptom management.
Supporting children often means supporting the entire family system. I partner closely with parents, offering insight, guidance, and practical strategies so they feel more confident and connected in their caregiving. Many of the families I work with are navigating the effects of generational trauma, high emotional sensitivity, or complex behavioral challenges. By the time they reach my practice, they are often ready for a deeper level of care — one that moves beyond surface-level interventions toward true healing.
Clients frequently describe my presence as grounded, compassionate, and thoughtfully direct. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel both deeply supported and gently challenged, allowing real growth to emerge.
My work is guided by three commitments:
• To provide highly individualized, evidence-based care
• To create a steady, nurturing environment where healing can unfold
• To help clients move toward healthier relationships, greater resilience, and a more integrated life
Seeking therapy is a meaningful investment in yourself or your family. My intention is to provide a therapeutic experience marked by expertise, attunement, and lasting impact — a space where healing is not only possible, but sustainable.
My practice is best suited for clients seeking specialized, trauma-informed care
and a highly personalized therapeutic experience.
